TrackFest Trophies!

Believe it or not; its actually a Tough gig trying to come up with a set of trophies for a Horsepower Crew event, with so many different types of Horsepower, we need to ensure that when there is over 220 of South Australia’s Motoring Enthusiast Community that is taking every effort to share their Horsepower with everyone, its only fair that we take the time to ensure that there could be a handful of categories that every entrant would have a keen eye on.

This is part of the reason why we love our Early Bird Entrants & Car Clubs/Groups joining in, they give us a good idea of what is being entered and how many, because Trophies don’t come overnight from Japan, and our engraver likes to have a bit of time to ensure that each one of those trophies is a work of art!

So in the game of Trophies, there is a lot of “TOP TEN” and “TOP THIS” and “TOP THAT” at a lot of the shows we admire, and at Horsepower Crew; we really feel that there really shouldn’t always be just the best of the best that earns every category. We feel that whilst Yes; there certainly does need to be a reflection of those that have mastered the craft of vehicle customisation on a high level, however we also want a lot of other categories to truly reflect the nature of our community at the event. After all, this is going to be one celebration that will be memorable!

So we have prepared a detailed list of not only what the Trophy categories are called, but also a description of what those trophies are acknowledging. This way everyone that enters and also everyone that is curious will get a feel for what we are aiming to recognise. We know how important it is, especially for those of you that have put all the hours, the blood, sweat and tears into your pride and joy, doing those extra tweaks to make sure it is ready for TrackFest. We want this to be a  special momento to mark that moment of the journey with your Horsepower.

Of course this all could not be achieved without our Sponsors. They take the time and effort to support us, so we can ensure that we have as many Trophies as possible!

And a special shoutout to our Judges, they have a tough job but they do it so well! Fortunately for them, all have been in the Motoring Industry for over 30 years with trades under the belt, and have been part of many car shows at the highest level, so if anyone was to ask what qualifications our judges have, well we’re sure the couple brief mentions above certainly earns enough street cred!

The Past, Present & Future

The Past, the Present & the Future of Horsepower Crew!

So by now you’ve heard the news on the street, Horsepower Crew has a new Home on the internet – Hosepowercrew.com!

So we thought that one day we are all going to look back at this time in 2018 and say, wow; that happened all that long ago? And a lot has happened as we approach 3 years! (Yep! See it’s already happening!) with our “Reason & Season” themed events.

Hence the name of this article; it’s to reflect on where we’ve been, where we are at; and where we are going!

If you’ve had a read about “Our Story” and “Meet the Team” what about the story in between?! Well you are in for a great chapter of the Horsepower Crew History book, buckle up & get comfy, we are taking a road trip down memory lane!

So let’s start with our first Show way back in 2K16, “Super Spring Cruise” this was our first “Season” style event, and if everyone remembers 2016, it wasn’t a very good year for Weather & Car Shows/Cruises.. ours was held on October 2nd; the Sunday of the long weekend that the AFL Grand Final is played, and you’d think that it’d be great spring weather by then right? Wrong! 4 days before we had a Statewide Blackout! Remember that?!

What did we do? As they say.. “The Show must go on!” And wasn’t it a beaut! Despite the Showers before and light rain during the event, our South Aussie Motoring Enthusiast Community came out to celebrate all types of Horsepower in true inaugural style!

Event Resident Videographer: AH Media

Our Exclusive Photographer-Explosive Curiosity was actually pretty happy about this, the beading drops on rides was actually something that made incredible images!

Our fave was watching the rain Stop mid-fall for Explosive Curiosity to take a snap of this grey pussy cat, either that or his shutter speed is faster than a Sonic Boom ? ???

Our Next Event was at a time that Everyone’s favourite Friday Night Cruises had taken a break, so we thought it would be a great reason to bring it back to unite the community! (Remember.. “Reasons & Seasons?) and do something a bit different and special by creating a “Green Zone Experience” full of Green cars & Bikes to celebrate our first event partner “SA Auto Installs” joining us! But Mother Nature was green with envy & had other plans, remember this?!

Yep! Hailstorms & Car shows shouldn’t be mentioned in the same sentence! We sent our Ferrari feature car home, our first marquee broke a leg, and it Hailed non stop about half an hour before our event was about to start.

Would you believe it? 15 minutes later, The sun came out, rainbows appeared and the car park floor was steaming from the melting ice! And as they say.. “the show went on” (again) and even a few top end bikes made it!

Our next shows were for different “Reasons” again; “Hitting” other shows like “Auto Expo” with our own display of Horsepower, (indoors!) and then kicking off 2017 hitting “Summernats 30” to bring the “brand new” Facebook Livestreams to our Community online!

But it was about time to have something in the Summertime! And that was exactly the  name of our next “Season” event.. “In The Summertime!”

But guess what?

It only rained the day before! (Yes, in the middle of Summer)

So with cracker weather on; we filled every single car park at Mile End Home with a heap of different Horsepower!

Like these in our “Pit Lane”

pic27 pic26 pic25 pic24 pic23 pic28

And in our Community like this RX7 & Falcon (Yeah the boys!)

There seemed to be a bit of a Hot Flame theme happening, check out this Hot Rod we had in Pit Lane, this orange Camaro & H Series Holden which all had it in common!

pic32 pic31 pic30

This Lamborghini was also hot! ? ?

And we brought back our Green Zone Experience with a heap of Green coloured Horsepower!

And apparently there was a Evo Rally day that day? Fresh dirt in time for the Show!

pic36 pic35

The boys in blue even helped us make a safe exit by blocking a lane of traffic, how’s the timing of this snap of this Camaro! Now that’s a Chase car!

Still on this journey with us reading? Sweet! Because, Next up: back to a “Reason” event with “Sweet Tooth Cruise”

Pretty fitting theme, candy pink with powerful punch R100 amongst the purple Jacarandas (trees), the idea of the “Reason” was to Cruise to Melba’s Chocolate’s to buy your loved one sweets in time for valentines Day!

Mother Nature was not feeling the love, she had forecast Thunderstorms and then cancelled them when we brought a monster to scare her away (a Monster Truck!) in time for us to have a Brilliant Mini Meet of high quality rides!

Back to a season event!

Nothing is more awesome than a Awesome Autumn Cruise! And following a new theme of Red’s, yellows, orange, Browns & Golds, our new theme Pit Lane Experience was memorable! Plus we had other types of Horsepower join us like a Rally Car & the Historical Police Vehicle society join us too!

pic49 pic48 pic47 pic46 pic45 pic44 pic43 pic42 pic41

Back to a Reason!

South Australia’s largest Social Media response to a Motoring Enthusiast event was to get together on the night of the worldwide release of Fast8, now that wasn’t so hard to organise, but organising cars that were actually in the films or replicas were! But we did it, did a photo shoot of them and again it was an incredible memorable night!

pic59 pic58 pic57 pic56 pic55 pic54 pic53 pic52 pic51

Next up; back to season!

Peeps thought we were crazy! So much bad luck with Rain in every other season.. and we do one in winter? Bingo! It didn’t rain & we filled 1,200 cars at Westfield Marion! (Reverse Psycology worked on Mother Nature maybe?)

This Lincoln Zephyr took centre stage!

Opposite Australia’s most recently crowned “Car of the Show” at the GTR Festival!

We even had a Blue/White/Silver/Grey winter Theme Display, it was really cool! (yep, pun intended!)

pic71 pic70 pic69 pic68 pic67 pic66 pic74 pic73 pic72

Our next event took us Back to Marion & back to a Reason! Uniting Fathers & thier Generations of Horsepower (on Fathers Day Eve) become something of an iconic step up from our Ethos, with so many cars and bikes attending again!

With having Army Horsepower joining us at our Marion events, they then invited us into their home!

With Aussie Muscle gracing our banner with Australian Army Theme, there was still a strong presence of mixed Horsepower! From Aussie & American Horsepower, to JDM, Euro & Bikes, And finally space to give/organise car clubs, our first “on the green” event was the most unique Motoring Enthusiast event location and with 17 small businesses in Traders Alley plus a heap of Food Trucks, it definitely upstaged the game to Festival status!

Is it Christmas yet? ?

At a time when it’s a busy time for everyone, we thought to sneak in a surprise event, in a secret location, with a big green Motoring Enthusiast Christmas tree (Shannons Truck), and another Charitable cause to support, it was one of our most relaxed meets ever & allowed us to head back to where it all started, at Mile end!

pic95 pic94 pic93 pic92 pic91 pic90 pic89 pic88 pic87

It was our 12th event in 18months, and in car show terms, that’s getting vintage, probably enough to cause a few grey hairs, call yourself an old chap, and head for the hills… and that’s exactly what we did!

All British Day was one of our most enjoyable events, having cool cars like the Aston Martin GT8 & E-Type on our cover, joining us next to our Marquee with another Vantage & DB11 and then 900 other British cars and Bikes across two Football Fields, that all sounds Manic! But with a very laidback scenery of the Adelaide Hills in Echunga and the very Experienced All British Day Committee, it turned out to be a cracker! Cracker weather too, finally a “24Degrees with a cool breeze” day! (In car show terms, that’s “Pinch yourself, you’re dreaming” weather! (thanks Mother Nature!)

So that’s the Past! 13 Events, helped fundraise over $10,000 for numerous charities and combined a community of Horsepower! What about the present? Well our present has been to work on a central online place for all parts of our community to connect with us & plan to celebrate offline at our events in the future, so that’s where horsepowercrew.com comes in!

You’ll now be able to visit our Next Festivals section to never miss a show & how you can get involved! (Like Trackfest!) And then create more memories for more “Reason & Season” Festivals for us to reflect on again sometime when life passes us by, you never know.. we may just bring one of your favourite shows of the past back in the Future! (Pun intended?)
